Kazan took part in the All-Russian action dedicated to the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture

Metropolitan Feofan of Kazan and Tatarstan, First Deputy Minister of Culture Elvira Kamalova, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Assembly of Peoples of Tatarstan, Chairman of the Kazan Russian National Cultural Association Irina Aleksandrovskaya took part in the opening ceremony of the holiday.

"Writing is a form of communication. How to join in some achievements in the field of literature and art, if we do not read about them. Books - a large window through which you can touch the highest achievements of science, culture, history, literature, architecture. And all this through writing. It is very important that in  writing, we kept the word today, "said Metropolitan Theophanes of Kazan and Tatarstan.

"Dear friends, dear participants, allow the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan to congratulate everyone on this wonderful holiday. It is very pleasant that today professional teams, children, and our school choir groups have gathered on one stage. All this work is carried out under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. As you know, there is an All-Russian choral society in Russia, and the Republic of Tatarstan is an active participant in this society, "said Elvira Kamalova in her speech.

We remind  that events timed to the memory of the creators of the Old Slavonic alphabet and the language of Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril and Methodius are held today throughout the country. On the occasion of the holiday entrance to the Concert Hall. S.Saidashev was free today. The concert opened with a solemn chant "Christ is Risen". The jewel of the program was the Hymn in honor of St. Cyril and Methodius, written by Peter Tchaikovsky. In the performance of the combined chorus popular songs of the Soviet era sounded  "Together cheerfully to walk", "Fly, pigeons", "Tenderness", "Enchanted distance", "Podmoskovnye evenings" and others. Academic and folk choirs took part in the concert: the State Chamber Choir of the Republic of Tatarstan under the baton of Milyausha Tamindarova, the chorus of the State Song and Dance Ensemble of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Chamber Orchestra "New Music" directed by Anna Gulishambarova, the combined choir of the Kazan Musical Schools, the Kazan State Institute of Culture Choir , The choir of the Kazan Musical College  after  I.Aukhadeev (artistic director Dina Venediktova).

A live broadcast of the celebration of the Day of Slavic Written Language on Red Square in Moscow was broadacsted  on the TV channel "Russia-Culture".
