On May 26, in the village of Nikolskoye, Laishevsky district, the traditional Russian folk festival "Karavon" to be held

25 May 2018, Friday

This year Karavon will gather more than 160 folklore, vocal groups (adults and children) from 40 districts of the Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan and Naberezhnye Chelny, as well as from 11 regions of the Russian Federation.

The festival will be performed by the Moscow State Musical Theater of Folklore "Russian Song" under the guidance of Nadezhda Babkina.

"Karavon" is an opportunity for spectators to get acquainted with the song creativity (they sing their folk songs in each village), national games, cuisine (even pies are baked differently), life, see the variety of scenic costumes of the Russian people (seemingly - the people alone, but in each locality their costumes) and in general, feel the spirit of traditional and modern Russian culture.

At the festival  there will be a variety of venues: concert, theater, gaming, interactive, as well as children's. In the "City of Masters", those who wish can attend master classes on handicrafts and folk crafts and purchase souvenirs at the fair-sale of crafts from all over Russia.

Also, on this day, guests will open the doors of the Russian courtyard. In the future it will become one of the tourist routes - there will be located an updated museum of the history of the "Karavon".

From Kazan, free buses will be arranged for the holiday, which will run from the stop "Prospekt Pobedy", from the Theater named after. G. Kamal and from the shopping and entertainment complex "Korston" on the street. Ershov, 1a from 8 am and with an interval of half an hour to 9.30.

The metro station "Prospekt Pobedy" also provides commercial (paid) buses, which will be sent at 9.00. At the end of the holiday buses (as they are filled) from the village of Nikolskoe will be delivered to Kazan and guests of the capital back.

From the history of the Russian national holiday "Karavon": In the old days in Nikolsky "Karavon" celebrated three days. It was a special action: all the participants gathered, from small to large, in a specially designed place and in accordance with the old tradition, joined by little fingers, followed a special "karavon" step. The movement created a "wave", as all simultaneously took a small step with the right foot forward, putting the left one to it, then, the right leg was smoothly wound up behind the left, and that, in turn, was again put to the right. In Nikolsky this step is called a "duck". In dances, there were at least 50 girls. Holding hands (or grappling with little fingers), they slowly moved "salting" (in the sun). Karavon songs were sung slowly, with a spurt (ie with word-fights), with chants, repetitions of individual words.

In the 80-ies of the twentieth century in the Russian Nikolsky, the villagers, with the support of the enthusiasts of the local House of Culture, resumed their folk tradition - "Karavon" for Nikolin Day. Until now, almost in the original, this tradition has survived, its bearers - members of the folklore ensemble "Karavon" are alive.

Since 1993, the holiday has acquired the status of the Republican and annually collects folklore ensembles from cities and regions of the republic, from various regions of the Russian Federation.
