Exhibition of Swedish photo artist Anders Petersen "Cafe Lemitz" in modern culture centre "Smena"

The guest of honor of the exhibition - the Ambassador of Sweden in Russia Peter Ericsson was greeted by acting Minister and First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan Elvira Kamalova.

The opening ceremony was also attended by Stefan Ingvarsson, Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of Sweden in Moscow and Andrey Martynov, Director of the International Festival of Contemporary Photography in Novosibirsk. After the official opening, they conducted an excursion around the exhibition.

"Cafe Lemitz" is a series of works about the life of a Hamburg bar of the late sixties, which has become a classic of Swedish documentary photography.

In the bar port dockers, neighboring residents, representatives of the "social bottom" converge. The photo series resembles a family album that captures a variety of meetings with people in a familiar setting. The master lives among them and communicates with them for several years, thanks to which people get confidence and accept Petersen for his. This trust and this closeness can be clearly seen in the photographs.

Author - Anders Petersen was born in 1944 in Stockholm. Studied the art of photography at the school of Christer Stremholm (1966-1968) and the Dramatic Institute (1973-1974). He is one of the best Swedish photographers from the now living. International recognition comes to him in 1978, when Petersen publishes a photobook "Café" Lemitz ". Now he has more than 25 books on his account.

The photographer has received many awards, and his works are presented in the collections of many museums around the world.

The project was prepared jointly with the Art director of the Novosibirsk International Biennale of Contemporary Photography "Different Dimension" Andrei Martynov, the Swedish Institute and the Swedish Embassy in the Russian Federation. The curator is Angie Oström. The Russian tour of the exhibition, photographs for which were selected along with the author, began with Krasnoyarsk. From Kazan the exhibition will go to Vladivostok.
