Recital of Yevgeny Yevtushenko to be held in Kazan

July 7th, on the stage of the M.Jalil Tatar State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater will perform outstanding Russian poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko. The concert starts at 18.00.

"A poet in Russia - more than a poet" - this phrase from the famous poem by Yevgeny Alexandrovich could be called a manifesto of his creativity. At eighteen, he published his first poem at nineteen he became the youngest member of the Union of Soviet Writers. His collections and performances at parties in the Polytechnic Museum at big audience together with R.Rozhdestvensky, B. Akhmadulina, and A.Voznesenski B.Okudzhava made ​​Yevtushenko a  symbol of the sixties generation.

In verses of Yevgeny Yevtushenko  attitude of a whole generation of Soviet people is reflected, formed under the influence of changes in the consciousness of society. To match the heights of poetry Yevtushenko’s active civil position and fearless actions in support of persecuted talents, the dignity of literature and art, creative freedom, human rights.

Since the 1990s, Yevtushenko lives in the U.S. reads at the University lectures on Russian poetry and admits that he was happy that three thousand Americans are studying Russian language and culture. Yevtushenko believes that poetic thinking is leaving modern Russia that "sacred place, poetry had been taken  by journalism and orators."

80 year old  poet rarely speaks in his native country, but made ​​an exception for Kazan. July 7, a recital is to be held by Yevgeny Yevtushenko on the scene of Tatar Opera and Ballet theatre. Program is called "Life as an adventure" will present Edward Treskin. The event is part of the Year of Russian Culture.
