The charming story of the love of the young shepherdess Bastienne and the shepherd Bastien is a singspiel - "a play with singing" or "opera with dialogues", extremely popular in the second half of the 18th century. According to the plot, the shepherdess Bastienna is in love with the shepherd Bastien. However, it seems to him that he has an interest in one rich girl. The sorcerer Kolas comes to the rescue. He helps two young lovers to find happiness.

Italian comic opera "Phone, or Love Three" (1947) by Giancarlo Menotti is a half-hour work for two soloists accompanied by an orchestra. The plot is based on a love triangle, one of whose participants is a telephone. Ben comes to Lucy to ask her to become his wife. But every time, as soon as he begins his confession, the damn phone rings, and Lucy deepens into endless conversations with her friends. In despair, Ben jumps out into the street and calls his beloved from the phone booth. Now, fans of telephone conversations no longer stand in the way of two lovers. Ben on the phone says that he is deadly in love with Lucy, can not live without her and asks for her hand.
