Contest named after Yuri Yegorov to be held in Kazan

At the Kazan Conservatory from November  9 to 12, the Second All-Russian Open Contest for Young Pianists named after Yuri Yegorov will take place - an outstanding musician whose short life  closed very early.

The creativity by  Yuri Yegorov - a pupil of the   ten –year school  at the Kazan Conservatory  received the widest fame abroad. In Holland, where Yegorov emigrated in 1976, to this day there is a society dedicated to him (Yuri Egorov Society). In our country, the name of the musician for a long time was forgotten, and today remains only a fairly narrow circle of professionals who know him. One of the main goals set by the organizers of the competition is the popularization of Egorov's work.

The Yuri Yegorov Contest was first held by the Kazan Conservatory in 2015. This year, young pianists from Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don, Saratov, Saransk, Kirov, Izhevsk, Naberezhnye Chelny submitted applications for participation.

The grand opening of the competition will be held on November 9 in the hall named after Rachmaninov, there also  competitive auditions to take place.

This year the jury chairman will be the famous pianist, People's Artist of the USSR, People's Artist of Georgia Eliso Konstantinovna Virsaladze. The skills of the participants will also be assessed by: Honored Art Worker of Russia, Professor Irina Dubinina – teacher of  Yuri Yegorov at the Secondary Special Music School; Honored Artist of Russia, Professor Evgeny Vladimirovich Mikhailov; Honored art worker of Tatarstan, Professor Alexander Arkadievich Mikhailov;   the laureate of international contests, teacher of the Central Music School at the Moscow Conservatory Andrei Eduardovich Zhavoronkov; Director of the Secondary Special Music School at the Kazan Conservatory Denis Borisovich Marshanskiy.

On November 10, within the framework of the contest, there will be a landmark event - a concert by Eliso Konstantinovna Virsaladze. The  lady  pianist will perform at the S. Saidashev State Concert Hall together with the Junior Orchestra conducted by the Honored Artist of Russia Sergei Ferulev. The program includes piano concerts by Mozart and Chopin.

Participants and guests of the contest will also be able to attend the master classes by  Virsaladze on November 12 in the Small Hall of the Conservatory. On the same day, the results of the competition will be summed up and the winners will be awarded.

Master classes and competitive auditions will be accessible to all comers.
