Today in Kazan XIII International Festival of Muslim Cinema is opening

The competitive program of 2017 will make 60 films from 27 countries of the world (all in all, 782 applications from 61 countries were sent for participation). Today at a press conference the members of the selection committee told what to expect from the competitive program of this season.

Sergei Lavrentiev: "A film of a Buddhist nun about Christians at a Muslim film festival isn’t it a dialogue of cultures?!"

The contest program will be  assessed by   an authoritative jury chaired by People's Artist of Russia, director and screenwriter Nikolai Dostal. Parallel and out-of-competition programs are also prepared for spectators. The films will be shown in the theaters of Rodina, Mir, Kinomaks, Korston and Kazan Kremlin.

The guests of the festival will be well-known figures of cinema - actors Natalya Varley, Svetlana Svetlichnaya, Vladimir Konkin, Olga Ostroumova, Marat Basharov, Sergey Makhovikov, Kirill Pletnev, Vladimir Vdovichenkov, Anna Snatkina, Leonid Kulagin, Viktor Merezhko, producers Ruben Dishdishyan, Ruslan Tatarintsev, Igor Mishin , film critic Kirill Razlogov, singer Elmira Kalimullina, Dina Garipova and many others.
