Today, on Rustem Yakhin's birthday, a monument to an outstanding composer in Kazan

The monument is located in the park along Bolshaya Krasnaya Street, opposite the building of the Kazan State Conservatory named after N.G.  Zhiganov. The celebration began symbolically - with  performance  of the State Anthem of the Republic of Tatarstan, whose author is Rustem Yakhin.

President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, State Advisor of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan Airat Sibagatullin, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, as well as prominent figures of culture and art took part in the solemn ceremony.

Rustam Minnikhanov noted that today marks the 96th anniversary of the birth of Rustem Yakhin, an outstanding composer who made a significant contribution to the development of Tatar music.

"Dear friends! Today is the birthday of the great Tatar composer, People's Artist of the USSR, participant in the war, author of the anthem of our republic. Opposite the Conservatory, where he would work, create,  such a beautiful complex has appeared  where our guests, Kazaners, may come. This is a unique, beautiful place. We will always be proud of his works, we  always remember him, "said the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Also, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan expressed gratitude to the sculptors and architects who had  worked on the monument, Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Tatarstan Asiya Minnullina, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Andrei Balashov and architect Herman Bakulin.

Chairman of the Union of Composers of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Russian Federation Rashid Kalimullin stressed that Rustem Yakhin was one of the strongest melodists not only of Tatarstan, but also of the Soviet Union. "He was a very talented person, not only interested in his music, but also in the music of his colleagues," he said.

 "Today is a wonderful holiday. The creativity of this remarkable musician, composer, has penetrated so deeply into every heart that it is enough just to name his name and a melody arises. God gave him a unique opportunity to write 400 songs. Songs of Yakhin are a visiting card of our republic, "said Rubin Abdullin, rector of the Kazan State Conservatory named after N.G. Zhiganov.

The official part of the ceremony ended with the laying of flowers at the monument.

Information: Rustem Mukhametkhazevich Yakhin (16.08.1921 - 23.11.1993) is a Tatar composer, a member of the USSR Composers' Union (1948), People's Artist of the USSR (1986), author of the music of the State Anthem of the Republic of Tatarstan (1993).
