Kazan celebrates Day of Russian language and the birthday of Alexander Pushkin

At a poetic rally, which took place at the monument to Alexander Pushkin in front of the Tatar State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after M. Jalil, dozens of people  have come. Among them - famous figures of the city culture, poets and writers, students and schoolchildren. First deputy minister of culture of the Republic of Tatarstan Elvira Kamalova welcomed  participants and guests of the holiday.

"By a wonderful tradition, we are celebrating today the birthday of the great Russian poet Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin and the Day of the Russian Language. What is Pushkin's day for Russia, what is Russian for us? This is the whole world, this is our thinking, this is our homeland, this is our memory, this is our past and future. On behalf of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan and on my own behalf, let me congratulate you on a wonderful holiday, "said Elvira Kamalova, opening a solemn meeting.

Then   First deputy minister of culture of the Republic of Tatarstan congratulated the  two anniversary celebrants. Elvira Kamalova handed gratitude from  Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky to the poet, a literary consultant of the public organization "Union of Writers of the Republic of Tatarstan" Liliya Gazizova for her great contribution to the development of culture and many years of fruitful work.

And the writer, a member of the public organization "Union of Writers of the Republic of Tatarstan" Lev Kozhevnikov was awarded the Letter of Thanks from the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan for his many years of fruitful work and great contribution to the development of literature.

The verses by Pushkin   for Kazaners  and guests of the capital were read today by famous poets, writers and artists. And the participants of the Youth Assembly of the Tatarstan peoples presented  creations of the great poet in their native languages. Even passers-by that rushed on business, now and then stopped to listen to  favorite lines.

The poetic rally on theatrical square ended with a romance on Pushkin's poetry. The holiday continued with a solemn concert at the Tatar State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after M. Jalil. To the point, the events dedicated to the Day of the Russian Language and the birthday of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin are now held throughout the republic.
