Memorial plaque to HarisYakupov will open in Kazan

On November 24, at 16:00, journalists are invited to the exhibition "TheGreat Victory", which will be organized following the results of the 1st Republican Competition for the award of the KharisYakupov Prize in the field of fine arts. Here at 13:00 a memorial plaque dedicated to the famous Tatar painter - the author of historical and genre paintings, portraits and landscapes will be opened.

KharisAbdrakhmanovichYakupov (1919-2010) - painter, graphic artist, outstanding Tatar artist, full member of the Russian Academy of Arts, People's Artist of the RSFSR, People's Artist of the USSR, Honored Art Worker of the Tatar ASSR, Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR. Laureate of the State Prize of the Tatar ASSR named after GabdullaTukay, Laureate of the State Prize of the RSFSR named after IlyaEfimovichRepin.

In 1941 he went to the front. Having passed the roads of the Great Patriotic War, he became a singer of the heroic theme in art, created large-scale and vital canvases about the feat of our fellow countrymen - the heroes of Musa Jalil, Mikhail Devyatayev.

 

He made a contribution to  formation of the school of Soviet Tatar painting, developed a plot-thematic picture of the historical-revolutionary, military-patriotic, everyday and portrait genres. He was considered the leading artist of the republic, a prominent representative of the direction of socialist realism. From 1951 to 1975 he served as chairman of the board of the Union of Artists of the Tatar ASSR. From 1976 to 2007 he headed the creative workshop of the Academy of Arts of Russia in Kazan.
