On behalf of the republic's leadership,  Chairman of the State Council, Farid Mukhametshin, congratulated the people of Tatarstan.

"More than four centuries have passed since all the Russians - people of different classes, nationalities and faiths - have joined their efforts in the struggle for their Motherland, this marked the beginning of overcoming the Time of Troubles and the revival of Russia as an independent state," recalled  head of the republic's parliament, opening festival - it is the multinational Russian people who acted as the guarantor and support of the national statehood. "

Farid Mukhametshin stressed that the ideas of the consent and unity of the peoples of Russia are relevant to this day. "Only together we are able to defend our country based on the principles of democracy and social justice, preserve a rich history and statehood, the unique diversity and identity of the cultures of the peoples of the Russian Federation," he said. "Peace and harmony in Tatarstan, good-neighborliness and mutual respect are our main and it is our duty to protect these values, to ensure equality in  preservation and development of languages ​​and national cultures. "

Farid Mukhametshin also conveyed the greetings by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov to the participants of the gala concert and presented state awards. "In  process of modernization of all spheres of life of Tatarstan society, economy and social sphere, we rely on energetic, creative people," Farid Mukhametshin said, congratulated everyone on the well-deserved awards, as well as on the coming Constitution Day of the Republic of Tatarstan, which will be celebrated on November 6 .

In Tatarstan these days there are a number of events timed to the Day of National Unity - a gala concert of the republican festival "Peoples of the Volga Region", an exhibition "Russia - My History", a large ethnographic dictation.

The holding of the festival "Our Home - Tatarstan" on this day has already become a good tradition. Annually in municipal and zonal tours the competition gathers more than 200 creative collectives representing the people living in the republic. Over the whole period of the festival, more than 9,000 people took part in it. 800 people from various cities and regions of Tatarstan became participants of this year's festival.
