On July 19, 2018, the staff of the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan will visit the village of Polyanka, Spassky District of the Republic of Tatarstan, to pay tribute to A.F. Likhachev, whose collections formed the basis of the museum.

Since the XVIII century Polyanka village was a family estate of noble family Likhachevs. Here many of its representatives were born and buried, including Andrei Fedorovich Likhachev - a well-known Kazan collector, archeologist and numismatist.

His extensive collection, numbering more than 40 thousand items, was for him the meaning of life. It reflects all his interests: the desire to promote enlightenment - in monuments of archeology, numismatics and ethnography, fascination with literature - in the library, painting classes - in the art collection.

The archaeological collection of Bulgarian antiquities was the most complete in all of Russia and caused "just admiration" in the scientific world.

Today, many exhibits from the Likhachev collection can be seen in the sections of the permanent exhibition and thematic exhibitions of the National Museum of the Republic of Tajikistan and the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan.

In Polyanka, the museum staff will take part in the memorial service and laying flowers to the graves of representatives of the Likhachevs clan.

Residents of the village will be presented with lectures and shows that will be introduced to the subjects of the Likhachev meeting.

The completion will be the planting of rose bushes in the church garden. This tradition appeared several years ago as a symbol of preserving the memory of our famous compatriot.
