"I ask you to remember me ... L. Tolstoy"

On November 20, the world community celebrates the Day of Remembrance of the writer and great citizen of Russia and the world Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoi.

The name of Leo Tolstoy is inextricably linked with Kazan. Here the thirteen-year-old boy with his brothers and sister arrived in  autumn of 1841, and left our city in  spring of 1847. Many memorable places are connected with the name of the genius remained here.

Considering  close connection of the Tolstoy family with Kazan, as well as the author's significant influence on Russian and world literature, the decree by  the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, R.N. Minnikhanov  the year 2018  was officially declared the Year of Leo Tolstoy in Tatarstan. So, on the eve of the 190th anniversary of the birth of Lev Nikolaevich, the president of the Republic of Tatarstan decided to pay tribute to the great writer, and at the same time draw attention to the study of the Russian language in the republic. This decision was voiced by Rustam Minnikhanov in his annual message to the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan. The decree says that the main event of 2019 will be the first awarding of Leo Tolstoy's medal and a monetary prize for achievements in the field of Russian literature.

To honor the memory of the great writer, the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan traditionally on the day of his death holds an event "I ask you to remember me ... L. Tolstoy." In the 107th anniversary of the death of Leo Tolstoy we invite lovers of the writer's creativity on November 20 at 11.00 to  the square. L.N. Tolstoy, to lay flowers to his monument.
